Student Care Welfare Queensland Inc. (SCWQ) was formed on February 1st 2004, by Peter Morrow and Charles Wheeler.
Despite being a newly formed charity, the entire SCWQ staff consisted of highly experienced professionals, who chose to add SCWQ to an extensive career in counselling, welfare or humanitarian work. Thankfully, we continue to benefit from the expertise of trained and experienced counsellors who assist with ongoing innovation in the fields of play therapy and child psychology.
SCWQ absorbed the workload of a now closed local charity (QASA), while also carving its own unique niche offering further developed with a fresh approach and an extremely high standard of care and compassion.
What We Are
We are a Queensland based non-Government organisation (charity), taking responsinility for educating and counselling our youth to protect them from forms of psychological and physical harm. In addition to this, we provide direct relief to youth and their surrounding families in their times of need. We perform this vital role by providing programs and counselling through school communities, by canvassing entire classes or grades, and also by working one-on-one with students who are referred to us. Our welfare division "Student Care Welfare Arm" also provides homeless youth and others in need with food, blankets and clothing, while trying to find alternative accommodation.
What We Stand For
We strive to change the lives of our youth, by empowering individuals with the knowledge and confidence of their own self-worth. We act with empathy, professionalism and integrity, and are committed to improving the lives of our future generations. By promoting hope and optimism, we aim to prevent those who believe themselves to be overwhelmed by their problems from slipping into a destructive cycle of dispair, drugs and suicide. We believe that with teamwork, mutual trust and respect, that any problem can be tackled and that with ongoing support, our troubled youth will become in their search for happiness and success.
What We Aim To Become
Our vision is to witness the growth of SCWQ into a leading example of a productive, professional and purposeful charity.
We recognise that by delivering practical, high quality programs and counselling we can make a real impact on the futuire of our youth - and our country.
